I didn't take pictures of everything even though it seems like it. You'll have to go to the sim to see what else is there! LOL
Come with me on my adventure around the American Cancer Society sim!
Sometimes I cam or I tele around a parcel/sim. I highly recommend that when exploring the ACS sim that you walk it. You'll have a much better experience. <3Right away, they have resources and support information at the landing point.
And on the other side, they have some upcoming events. Some of these are from last year, but they will be updated.
I started with the RFL parcel.
On the way into the building, you'll come across this memorial of Dr. Gordon "Gordy" Klatt, the founder of Relay For Life.
When you first come in, to your left is a lot of information about RFL of SecondLife. They even give you a starting point to guide you!
As you go through this area, you can get information on how your Linden contributions get to the ACS in real life. How you can get involved with RFL and pick up some fundraising tools!
You can find other ways to connect with the ACS within SL and through social media.
If you'd like to become a Sponsor, they have information on how to go about doing that and what you'll receive in return.
I have to put some RL experience in here on this one. I have had a lot of experience in both the administration of businesses and nonprofits.
If you are a business or another social group that wants exposer, this is a way to get a great message out to your people. It's a message that says you want to be connected to your people and community and that you care about their cause.
Please consider being a sponsor.
They have a lovely space to sit and relax or connect with others.
There were places on this parcel that I did not take photos of. There are some beautiful memorials, and I feel they are personal and should be experienced in world.
Now that you've gone around the building with me, get back to the starting point and grab some information about the RFL kick-off (Already happened) and get registered to relay.
*The kick-off has already happened. I was unable to go to it.
The next parcel I went to was the Events Parcel
I was incredibly surprised by how many events they hold! I'm so excited about this next year now that I know about these.
I did not go in order of when they happen during the year. I am showing you in the order I visited each kiosk.
SL Christmas Expo
The information in this kiosk is about last year but you can join the SL Christmas Expo group in world.
There are so many events within this event that you can participate in!
Last year they raised $24,178 USD for VR Goggles for kids with cancer!!
Last year they had a raffle for more than 250 Gift Cards. I wish I would have known about that!
The next Kiosk I went to was for the Home and Garden Expo - Going on NOW!
They have another comfy place to hang out or sit and relax by yourself in the Home and Garden Expo Kiosk.
You can make a donation in any of the Kiosks.
They have pictures from past events.
Strides! Let's talk about Strides!
Strides was the first group I found beyond the RFL group when searching for breast cancer resources and support in SecondLife. I saw a couple of their events here and there but never knew there were so many events within the Stride group.
Right away they let you know what Strides is, who to contact and how to get involved.
Bikers for Boobies!!
Camping for a Cure - Camping for BOOBS
Out Shop Cancer
Creators! Here is an event you can register for and help spread awareness about Strides and show support for the ACS.
I have recently become an event shopper and will be putting this one on my calendar!
Pink Power Fest!
Renaissance Festival!
So many incredible events within the Strides kiosk!
Sci Fi Con
This looks like a new event coming. The Kiosk is set up and ready for info!
Fantasy Faire
You can follow them on Facebook!
They have a website you can check out for more information.
They also have their own radio station you can tune into!
The next parcel I went to was the Catt Gable Memorial Garden
My time on this parcel was very personal. I was moved to tears many times. I did not take any pictures as there are memorials with both SecondLife and RealLife pictures in them and I wanted to give respect and privacy to their loved ones.
The last parcel I went to is Hope Haven
Hope Haven was the first place I visited on the ACS sim for a survivor's chat. I didn't explore or cam while I was there for the chat so coming back and seeing all of the resources got me excited to share.
There are two buildings on this parcel, the first one is the resources building and the other is the Survivor and Caregiver Support Groups building.
I'll take you through the resource building first.
You are encouraged to touch EVERYTHING! There are so many ways to get information. You can hear it, go to a web page or see information in your local chat. Touch away!
I LOVE that they have chosen a lighthouse for the Survivor & Caregiver InfoNet. It represents a beacon of light in what can feel like a storm.
SecondLife residents can connect directly to the ACS in RealLife! You can chat right there with someone, they have a website you can navigate InWorld, you can get phone numbers and so much more.
Do you have a device that runs Alexa? You can get help setting it up the ACS Alexa Skill. A voice-driven capability that provides a more personal experience with the device
Personal Health Manager information.
I cannot express enough about keeping records of EVERYTHING. Not just for cancer or chronic illness diagnoses but for anyone. When I started seeing a new primary care doctor she asked me about a vaccination. I knew I had it about 5 years ago and I knew I had it done in Massachusetts. Luckily I have kept at least my visit summaries and could tell her the exact date.
Stop on by and grab the info on getting your copy.
They have A LOT of programs and services to help cancer survivors and caregivers.
Do you need a ride to doctors and treatments? ACS can help!
They have many ways they can help if you are needing a wig.
They have information about their Hope Lodge Program.
Information on how to stay moving and staying healthy!
Want to know what's happening with research? You can find it at Hope Haven!
The ACS works GLOBALLY!! Check out what they are doing for the rest of the world.
There is an area for Black/African American cancer info. I did not take any pictures of this area as there were pictures of both SL and RL people. I want to respect their families' privacy.
Do you want to know about everything Relay? You can! Tune in or stop by and listen LIVE!
Whew! We made it!
I know I took A LOT of pictures but I didn't take pictures of everything. There is a lot more to see and do on the sim. I encourage any SecondLife Resident who has been affected by cancer in some way to stop by their sim. Here is a direct taxi!!

I plan on going to as many ACS events as I can. Follow my Facebook Page to hear about new blog posts!
